The Spruce Moose Lodge and Cottages, located in a quiet neighborhood in the quaint village of North Conway, New Hampshire. It has been operating as a year 'round haven for White Mountains travelers almost since its granite foundation was laid more than 150 years ago. For history buffs, Mt. Washington Valley natives recount tales of the main building serving as a 19th century boarding house, and recall that the adjacent cottages once served as bunkhouses for a summer camp for the Princes of New England. Old-timers tell stories of old-time movie stars (Bette Davis, Babe Ruth) enjoying the grounds on a sunny summer afternoon, go bird watching or a brisk, fall evening, or a snowy winter's evening. The Lodge has two separate wings which are separated by the Spruce Moose Great Room. One side is the Spruce Wing and the other is the Moose Wing. All of the rooms in both wings are air-conditioned and have private bathrooms. The Spruce Wing of the Lodge has two floors: 2 rooms on the first floor and 3 rooms on the second floor. Three rooms feature queen size beds and private baths and 2 rooms feature two full size beds and private baths. The Moose Wing has three lovely rooms. Each of these rooms has a full-size bed, which is perfect either for individual travelers or for couples.

This post and beam historic home dating from the early 1800's first opened as Ashburn House Bed & Breakfast in 1996. In the spring 2003, Carole and Ken Beckwith purchased the home, furnishing it with Shaker furniture, antiques and artifacts from their travels. Guests share a candlelight breakfast in a formal dining room on the first floor. This room has a colonial style fireplace with a crane and beehive oven. A sumptuous full Irish breakfast or Yankee style hearty breakfast, along with fresh baked goods and seasonal fruit are served at a handsome, hand-crafted, tiger-maple table. Enjoy seasonal sports such as fishing in the nearby children's pond or sledding on the town-maintained cross country ski trails. In July, visitors marvel at the resplendent rhododendron in the Rhododendron State Park. One of the entrances to Mount Monadnock, the most frequently climbed mountain in the world by some accounts, is only three miles away and perfect for bird watching. Closer climbs are Gap Mountain and Little Monadnock. Both climbs are easy for children and adults!
